What is Video Therapy?

Video Therapy is a type of Art Therapy which involves making movies with a client. It stems from the idea that everything we create represents part of our subconscious thoughts, and through creating we can achieve deeper insight on and understanding of our own minds.

The process is very dynamic and generally involves creating a personal documentary or fictional film which can include;  writing, sounds, interviews, self-narration (voice overs), self filming, singing, dancing, acting, directing and video editing.

The Video Therapy process generally ranges anywhere between 6 -12 weekly meetings. The length of the process is decided together in the first meeting depending on the specific needs required.

Examples where this process could be helpful:

  • Rediscovering passions and values.

  • Reconnecting to a past version of yourself.

  • Understanding and coping with a past experience

  • Exploring a relationship

  • Dealing with a loss

  • Integration of a powerful experience
